The Israel Tax Authority announced that it received information about several thousands of Israelis who hold bank accounts at HSBC Switzerland.
The Israel Tax Authority announced today (Monday) that it recently received information indicating that more than 8,000 Israelis have bank accounts at HSBC Switzerland.
The Israel Tax Authority stated that for the past six months, it has been working together with the French Tax Authority in order to receive the list of the bank’s Israeli clients.
In the past few years, the Israel Tax Authority has been able to receive several lists containing the information of Israeli clients from different banks overseas.
Recently, indictments were filed against the Israeli clients of the Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS).
According to Israeli law, a citizen is allowed to maintain a bank account overseas as long as he or she reports it to the Israel Tax Authority.
