Deaf, Mute Orthodox Woman Tells NYPD She Was Raped on Rosh Hashanah

Police are investigating a deaf and mute Orthodox woman’s claims that she was raped while celebrating the High Holy Days early Tuesday, officials said.

The woman, 29, told police that she was attending a Rosh Hashanah celebration on Kingston Ave. in Crown Heights at about 1 a.m. when an Orthodox man attacked her, officials said.

Instead of reporting the incident right away, the woman fled to Grand Central Station, where she told cops there what happened.

Detectives hadn’t interviewed the woman Tuesday, police sources said.
