A senior figure in Hamas’ military wing in the Gaza Strip was killed and three others were wounded on Wednesday in an explosion at an organization facility in Rafah.
Palestinian health officials identified the man as 51-year-old Ibrahim Hassin Abu Anji, a senior figure in Hamas’ explosives division.
The Al Qassem Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, confirmed the incident and said the death occurred during work at one of the organization’s facilities.
Abu Anji had previously espcaped three Israeli assassination attempts.
In April, the Shin Bet caught two Palestinian women, one sick with cancer, trying to enter Israel with explosive material found in medicinal phials carried by the two women.
They wre entering Israel so that the cancer patient could receive treatment.
According to the Shin Bet, the amount of explosive material was enough to construct an explosive device and was supposedly given to the women by Hamas for use in an attack.
