Kiryas Joel, NY – Synagogue Worker Arrested For Assault

Kiryas Joel, NY – The New York State Police in Monroe arrested this afternoon a maintenance worker who assaulted a man inside a Synagogue in the Village of Kiryas Joel.

Jae Kyung Lee (56) of Monroe who is a janitor at the ‘Charedim’ Synagogue on Van Buren Drive stabbed a 35 year old man who is said to be an employee of the Synagogue in the upper leg with a small screwdriver type object causing a small puncture wound while both were in the synagogue.

The male victim sustained a wound to his foot and was being treated at the scene with non life threatening injuries.

Lee was charged for assault in the second degree, additionally he was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

Its not clear what precipitated the incident.

He is currently awaiting arraignment in the Town of Monroe Court.
