A man in a white lab coat used an M16 assault rifle to open fire on multiple floors of a Bronx hospital where he used to work Friday afternoon, killing one woman and injuring five others, law enforcement sources said.
The shooter, Henry Bello, 35, died of a gunshot wound, according to sources.
He’s a former employee at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, who was listed on the medical center’s website as a doctor. But there are no state records of a Henry Bello with a medical license.
Bello went on the shooting spree around 3 p.m., opening fire on five floors of the medical center, sources said. There was a blast heard on another floor, sources said.
Some of the victims are doctors, according to police sources.
Pandemonium erupted in the medical center when Bello opened fire, and many hid in place as authorities searched for the gunman, sources said.
