An aspiring rapper was fatally shot during a drive-by attack in Queens early Sunday morning, law enforcement sources said.
Lionel “Chinx” Pickens, 31, dropped off a pal at the Briarwood subway station at 4 a.m. when he was gunned down, police said.
The friend had just taken a few steps down into the station when he heard screeching tires and gunfire, he told police. When he ran back up to the street, he saw Pickens’ Porsche and another car going in different directions, the man told cops.
Pickens and his passenger went another block before before stopping at Queens Boulevard and 84th Drive and called 911.
Paramedics took Pickens, who lived in Ozone Park, to Jamaica Medical Center where he died, authorities said.
There were seven bullet holes in the driver’s side of Pickens’ ride. Hours earlier, Pickens performed at Club Red Wolf, according to his Twitter page.
Pickens’ label and managers posted a picture of Pickens on Instagram and confirmed his death.
“It is with a heavy heart that The Legion Media Group and 4 Kings Management announce the passing of Lionel `Chinx’ Pickens this morning,” according to the Instagram message posted The Legion Media Group. “Chinx’s dedication, humor and vision will always be remembered.”
