NYC – Haredi Man Leads PAPD Cops On Wild Reckless Car Chase

A rogue driver led cops on a wild chase — including racing the wrong way down Sixth Avenue — before crashing into another vehicle Thursday, authorities said.

When asked why he refused to pull over, Efraim Nussbaum, 23, told Port Authority cops that he “panicked because my license is suspended.’’

Nussbaum — whose license has been yanked four times — was driving a pal’s brand-new Infiniti QX60 when he first came on a cop’s radar for recklessly changing lanes heading into Manhattan through the Holland Tunnel around 1:15 a.m., officials said.

The Lakewood, NJ, resident drove out of the tunnel and onto Varick Street with the officer hot on his heels with lights and sirens blaring.

Nussbaum fled onto Laight Street before heading the wrong way down Sixth Avenue for more than two blocks as the cop shouted over the cruiser’s PA system to pull over.

The motorist turned onto West Broadway, again going the wrong way, before slamming into a Toyota Camry at Beach Street, PAPD officials said. The other driver suffered minor injuries.

Nussbaum was charged with fleeing police, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and driving without a license.
