NYPD: Maria Marrero Disappears on Her Way To Work At US Open

A Queens EMT who vanished on her way to work at the U.S. Open Thursday morning hasn’t been seen since, according to her scared family and friends.

Maria Marrero, 28, left home around 5:30 a.m. and disappeared somewhere between Fresh Meadows and Flushing Meadows, according to police.

“She texted someone at 7:30 a.m. saying she was getting ready for work,” Marrero’s ex-boyfriend Christian Escobar told the Post. “Her mother heard her leave before 6. That doesn’t make sense.”

Escobar, who has a 11-year-old daughter with Marrero and says they split up amicably after dating in high school, admits he’s worried she’s been abducted.

“She’d never skip working without calling in sick or something. It’s just not like her. I keep thinking about that firefighter’s daughter,” he said, referring to Karina Vetrano, who was found raped and murdered in a Howard Beach park last month.

Cops say they are investigating the disappearance. They describe Marrero as 5 foot 2 and 110 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

A Queens mother and U.S. Open EMT whose family feared had vanished was found Saturday at a Long Island hospital.

Maria Marrero, 28, called for an ambulance herself after leaving her house on 194th St. near 64th Ave. in Fresh Meadows Thursday morning because she was feeling ill, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

It was not immediately clear why her family was not alerted that she had been checked into Long Island Jewish Hospital, where she remained Saturday night.

A police source said that Marrero has been in and out of consciousness at the hospital since Thursday, but did not specify her ailment.

After Marrero never arrived for her shift at the Flushing Meadows tennis tournament Thursday – and was not heard from for days — panicked relatives filed a missing persons report with the 107th Precinct and distributed fliers.

The veteran EMT, who has an 11-year-old daughter, was located Saturday night after a hospital receptionist recognized her picture from media reports, said Marrero’s ex-boyfriend, 31-year-old Christian Escobar.

Her mother was by her side at the hospital bed Saturday night, said Escobar, who is the father of her child and remains close with the family.

“Thanks to you guys, we were able to find her,” Escobar said.

Police said Marrero is not believed to have been the victim of a crime.
