Attorney Jacob Weinroth, who is representing Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s wife Sara, has been battling a serious illness for the past year.
In an interview with Israel’s Channel 2, Weinroth was asked about his health.
“I pray G-d should give me another day and another day and another day.
For me, nothing is simple, and even one hour isn’t simple,” he said. “But I am a believing Jew, and I believe G-d is watching over the world.”
“I’m still working because the doctors told me to continue working. So that’s what I do.”
Regarding Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit’s decision to indict Sara Netanyahu, Weinroth said, “One knew that things were transferred regularly from Jerusalem to [the Netanyahus’ private residence in] Caesarea… I cannot tell you all the answers I plan to give at the hearing, but I can promise to see you after the hearing, and then you’ll understand [the explanations for] what was known about the whole issue.”
“The claim that Manny Naftali is responsible deals mainly with how much food was ordered,” he explained, continuing sarcastically: “I’m dealing with the basic claim against Sara Netanyahu, which is that she hired a cook, G-d forbid, and went and bought food somewhere else.
And regarding that claim, we have piles of answers, all basic and factual. The charge has no basis.”
“I don’t see us as offering a plea bargain, or accepting a plea bargain if one is offered. We will fight for her innocence, and we have good reason to fight for it.
The way things are now, I don’t think we need to compromise.”
Sara Netanyahu was accused, among other things, of using government money to hire a caretaker for her elderly father, and for exaggerating the cost of meals at the Prime Minister’s Residence, but was only indicted for alleged responsibility for the food bills.
Last week, the results of a private polygraph test were published, indicating that Sara Netanyahu spoke the truth on every count.
