A homeless Brooklyn mother whose family was torn apart by landlord harassment and unlawful eviction can begin to rebuild her life following a $68,000 criminal settlement.
“New York has zero tolerance for those who seek to defraud or discriminate against rent-regulated tenants trying to make a home for themselves and their families,” Governor Cuomo said.
Attorneys for a pair of Brooklyn slumlords accused of forcing their long-time tenants to live in destroyed apartments and then scaring them into leaving in order to jump in on the growing real estate market are working on a plea deal to resolve the case.
