The actor Harrison Ford was flying a small vintage prop plane that crash landed in a golf course near Santa Monica Airport Thursday afternoon, according to reports.
The Hollywood legend and avid pilot was hurt in the crash, but his son later tweeted that his father is “Battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man.” MyFoxLA.com reported that Ford was in “fair to moderate condition” at UCLA Medical Center.
The single-engine Ryan ST3KR went down near the Penmar Golf Course in Venice around 2:30 p.m. local time.
The NTSB said via Twitter that it would investigate the crash.
Ford, 72, became a huge star as Han Solo in the original “Star Wars” trilogy. After vowing to never reprise the role, he joined the cast of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” due in theaters at the end of 2015.
