An NYPD officer has been arrested on rape and other charges in a series of sexual assaults on a 16-year-old girl he knew through his church, police say.
Officer Vladimir Sosa, 38, who works out of the 46th Precinct in the Bronx, was arrested in the 43rd Precinct Tuesday morning, police said.
The 7-year member of the force attended the same church as his alleged victim, according to police.
Sosa is expected to be suspended without pay, the NYPD said. He was awaiting arraignment Tuesday evening on charges of rape, criminal sex acts, sexual misconduct, child endangerment and sex abuse, and could not immediately be reached for comment.
An NYPD sergeant was arrested last month on rape charges in an investigation into a months-long relationship he allegedly had with a 13-year-old girl.
