Police arrested a man for driving around Bed-Stuy with a machine gun and an assortment of other weapons yesterday evening, after initially pulling him over for his excessively tinted windows.
According to cops, officers first noticed the 2013 red Chevy Impala driving near Ralph Avenue and Bainbridge Street for its too-dark windows.
They pulled the car over, and as the driver, Harvey McManus, rolled down the window, a cloud of pot smoke emanated from the hotbox.
Since McManus, 36, didn’t have paperwork for the vehicle, cops asked him to get out, which is when they say they spotted the large, straight edge knife on the driver’s side floor.
McManus was arrested, and a closer inspection of the Impala allegedly revealed a Pioneer Arms Model PPS43-c 9mm machine gun, two high capacity magazines—one loaded with 19 9MM rounds—an additional set of 129 9MM rounds, 40 .45 caliber rounds, 14 .38 special rounds and two stun guns.
He is charged with criminal possession of a machine gun, criminal possession of a loaded firearm, criminal possession of a defaced firearm and tint violation.
