A former New York Knicks player, who now shoots hoops for the Indiana Pacers, was stabbed — along with his wife and another woman — in an NBA free-for-all outside the 1 OAK club in Manhattan early Wednesday, police sources said.
Chris Copeland, 31, was arguing with his wife outside the infamous Chelsea hotspot on West 17th Street around 4 a.m., when 22-year-old suspect Shezoy Bleary interrupted them, police sources said.
Copeland told the man to get lost, which is when the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Copeland in the stomach, police sources said.
Bleary then turned the blade on the basketball player’s wife, Katrine Saltara, and stabbed her in the breast, buttocks and arm, police sources said. Another woman, who was known to the stabber, was also attacked.
The 6-foot-8 Newark native and his wife were rushed to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, authorities said. The other woman was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital, authorities said.
Bleary was taken into police custody at the scene and charges against him are pending. The knife was recovered at the scene.
