NEW YORK — More than a dozen people were shot or stabbed in separate incidents across New York City overnight, police said.
Of the shootings, eight people were wounded in the Bronx, three in Brooklyn and one in Manhattan, CBS2’s Ilana Gold reported.
Investigators say the tally is a very large number and not typical.
All of the shooting victims are expected to survive, police said. No arrests have been made.
At around 9 p.m. Saturday, a 15-year-old girl, a 23-year-old man and a 55-year-old man were caught in the crossfire after violence erupted at a party outside of a public housing complex on Castle Hill Avenue in the Bronx, WCBS 880’s Monica Miller reported. The victims were rushed to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition.
Cornelius, who lives nearby, said families need to do more to get involved in their kids’ lives.
“There’s no family orientation,” he told Miller. “There’s no sitting down at the table at dinnertime and talking about problems.
There’s no ‘Do you have homework?’ Everything is isolated.”
At 2 a.m. Sunday, two people were stabbed and seriously injured in Queens — one in Hollis, the other in Ridgewood — police said.
And at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, a 40-year-old man was shot in the torso in the Grand Concourse section of the Bronx, authorities said. Police said the problem started at a house party at College Avenue and East 166th Street.
The victim is now hospitalized in stable condition.
