Tiger Woods hasn’t been sleeping much recently.
Not because he’s nervous about performing at the Players Championship. No, the reasons are far more serious.
Woods and Lindsey Vonn announced their breakup over the weekend and May 3 was the anniversary of the death of Woods’ father, Earl.
“It obviously does affect me,” Woods said on Tuesday about his breakup. “It is tough. I’m not going to lie about that. And on top of that, this time of year is really, really hard on me.”
The last part is a clear reference to the ninth anniversary of his dad’s death.
“This three day window is really hard. I haven’t slept. These three days, May 3-5, it’s just brutal on me. And then what happened on Sunday just adds to it.”
Kind of puts the golf in perspective.
