A 50-year-old music teacher from northern Israel was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of having sexual relations with a female student beginning four years ago when she was 13.
Police suspect the man had been having sex with the girl when he would take her home from her music lesson.
The suspect was arrested after the girl told her parents, and her mother filed a complaint with the Migdal Ha’emek police. The teacher, who denied the allegations, is to be brought to Nazareth Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for a bail hearing.
In another case, police on Tuesday arrested a 35-year-old man for having sex with a 15-year-old female relative. The girl said that over a six-month period the suspect had forced her to have anal sex and had also committed indecent acts.
Another relative of the 15-year-old, a man in his 60s, was arrested on suspicion of obstructing the investigation. Police suspect the man knew what had been happening and tried to prevent a complaint from being filed. The two are to be brought to Nazareth Magistrate’s Court today for a bail hearing.
Also on Tuesday, an indictment was filed in the Haifa District Court against Yehoshua Uzan, 50, from Ramle, for allegedly raping, sexually molesting and threatening women over several years while presenting himself as a rabbi and spiritual figure.
Uzan’s lawyer, Asher Chen, said his client denies all the allegations. “The indictment filed was much milder than the initial accusations against him. In the whole indictment there is one main charge and all the rest are low-level accusations and we believe that the arguments in defense of my client, together with other evidence that he wishes to append to the investigation file, will show that the suspicions are baseless.”
