Mariah Carey will perform at Rishon Lezion’s Amphi-Park on August 18, two months after visiting Israel with her boyfriend, Australian entrepreneur James Packer.
During her visit, Carey confirmed that she planned on performing in Israel. Ticket prices will be announced at a press conference on Wednesday.
Carey is one of the world’s biggest pop diva. She has won five Grammys and 11 American Music Awards and has sold more than 200 million copies to date. She also boasts 18 songs that reached number one on the Billboard charts, second only to The Beatles.
In 2000, the World Music Awards named her the best-selling singer of the millennium.
Her self-titled debut album, released in 1990, spent 11 consecutive weeks at the top of the charts and led to her first two Grammy awards.
Carey’s 1997 album “Butterfly” marked her transition to hip-hop and R&B and established Carey as one of the genre’s dominant figures. The album has sold nearly 22 million copies in the U.S. alone, and is considered one of Carey’s largest commercial successes.
Since the beginning of her career, Carey has released 14 studio albums and 10 compilations. Among her greatest hits include “Emotions,” “Fantasy,” and “Heartbreaker,” among many others.
