Rachel Uchitel has to undergo brain surgery for a birth defect that amazingly went undetected for 40 years.
Uchitel apparently suffers from Arnold–Chiari malformation, which consists of a malformation of the brain that leads to tissue and fluid in the spinal canal.
While it can cause a range of debilitating symptoms, Uchitel has mainly been dealing with back pain for years. After a series of misdiagnoses and failed treatments, it’s now been discovered that she suffers from this rare ailment.
The main treatment, although not a cure, is major brain surgery, which Uchitel will reportedly have in two weeks.
The operation entails drilling a hole in the back of her head in order to readjust the position of her brain. Unfortunately, there is only a 50 percent chance that the decompressive surgery will be successful in eliminating Uchitel’s symptoms.
Uchitel, perhaps best known for her affair with Tiger Woods, is mom to a 3-year-old daughter named Wyatt Lily, as Gossip Cop has reported.
She and husband Matt Hahn, Wyatt’s father, divorced last year after splitting in 2013. Uchitel has not mentioned her condition on social media, with her Twitter and Instagram pages mostly filled with posts about her daughter and clothing boutique.
Her surgery was first reported by TMZ. Gossip Cop will have updates.
