Rockland County, NY – A 57 year old Orthodox Jewish woman from Spring Valley died last night after her car crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and hit a parked commuter bus.
Mrs. Tziporah Unger was driving in the westbound lane on Viola Road 7:15 PM when she crossed the yellow line and hit a parked Monsey Trails bus.
Ramapo Police said that a Hatzolah crew arrived on the scene soon after and transported Mrs. Unger to Westchester Medical Center where she died several hours later. Mrs. Unger was alone in her car at the time of the crash.
According to Lieutenant Robert Lancia, police have no idea what caused Mrs. Unger’s silver Volkswagon sedan to veer across the road near Ramapo Senior High and hit the bus, which had no passengers at the time of the fatal crash.
An investigation is currently underway and police said that they have yet to determine the cause of the accident.
According to a GoFundMe campaign set up to raise money for funeral expenses, the family had moved to Israel several years ago, but moved back to the Monsey area for financial reasons.
The levaya will take place today at 1 PM at Congregation Tefilah L’Moshe on Brockton Road in Spring Valley with burial to take place in Israel.
