Four months after the retirement of Ramapo Police Chief Peter Brower, the town board held a special vote Tuesday morning, appointing Captain Brad Weidel as the new police chief for the Ramapo police department, town officials said.
“I’m very humbled by the decision of the town board, and look forward to working with the town and all residents,” Chief Weidel told TOT Tuesday afternoon.
Chief Weidel joined the Ramapo Police Department in 1980, and was promoted to sergeant in 1986.
In 2003, Chief Weidel was promoted to lieutenant. In 2004, he went to the FBI National Academy, and was promoted later that year to Detective Lieutenant.
In 2010, he was promoted to Captain. Today, he was promoted to Chief of the Department.
Chief Weidel, who lives in the Ramapo with his wife and children, is now he 7th Chief of the Ramapo Police Department.
