Seagram heir Matthew Bronfman and his third wife, Stacey Kaye, are divorcing after he brazenly stepped out in public with a new girlfriend half his age.
Fabulously wealthy Bronfman who has been married three times and has seven children wed Stacey in 2005, and they have a 10-year-old son.
The couple are regulars at society events: He’s on the board of the prestigious 92nd Street Y and a former chairman of the Governing Board of the World Jewish Congress.
But last year, attractive brunette Stacey president of the board of the American Friends of the Israel Museum discovered that Matthew, 56, had started an affair with a 28-year-old Israeli woman when she saw the couple’s messages over WhatsApp.
In October, Matthew described by the Jerusalem Post as a “top US businessman in love with Israel” — moved out of the family home and in with the towering blonde, 28 years his junior, at the posh Surrey hotel.
The son of billionaire Edgar Bronfman Sr., Matthew has six kids with his first two wives, and famously split with second wife Lisa Belzberg after she had a reported 2002 liaison with Bill Clinton. (She later denied after the split that she had been in a relationship with anyone else.)
A source said of his marriage to Stacey, “She was shocked to find out that he had a girlfriend who is exactly half his age and younger than his oldest child.
They tried to work things out, but the girlfriend moved over from Israel last October. Many in Manhattan were scandalized to see them parading around town together when he was still married to Stacey.”
Sources confirmed that Matthew and Stacey have just reached a settlement after months of negotiations.
It is believed Stacey will keep their sumptuous Fifth Avenue apartment across from the Metropolitan Museum of Art while Matthew has purchased a new place for his girlfriend.
The source added: “This has been horrific for the family, but Stacey is glad its over. Time will tell if the girlfriend will become his fourth wife.” Stacey and Matthew did not get back to us.
