At least two people were killed by an active shooter who is still on the loose Wednesday on the UCLA campus, according to Los Angeles police.
A 911 call was made at 9:55 a.m. local time about an active shooter near the engineering building, Boelter Hall.
The school was immediately placed on lockdown and students on campus were asked to shelter in place.
“Stay clear of Engineering IV. Police are on the scene. The campus remains on lockdown,” UCLA tweeted around 1:50 p.m.

Helicopter footage showed students being led out of campus buildings with their hands on their heads by police.
“The whole campus just started running and I started running, too” Mehwish Khan, a 21-year-old student who hid in the library, told the Los Angeles Times. “Everyone was very confused.
The shooter was described as a 6-foot tall white male wearing a black jacket and black pants, police told campus newspaper The Daily Bruin.
LAPD Captain Andy Neiman wouldn’t confirm the description of the shooter, and said authorities know “very little.”
“We are responding with an abundance of caution,” he said at a press conference at the school as ambulance sirens blared in the background. “If you’re not at UCLA, stay away from the area.”
Multiple agencies responding to the shooting including the LAPD, the FBI as well as SWAT and bomb-squad teams that were on standby. At least 11 fire engines and 12 rescue ambulances were on the scene as of Wednesday afternoon.
The LAPD issued a tactical alert for the city of Los Angeles, which allows the police force to reallocate resources to respond to emergency situations.
