All sides agree on two things in this fatal international love triangle: Kyriakos Amiridis, the Greek ambassador to Brazil, is dead, and his wife’s young police-officer lover killed him.
But from there, the tales diverge, creating a salacious mystery that has riveted Brazil and Greece since Amiridis’ charred corpse was found Thursday inside his torched rental car just outside Rio de Janeiro.
The wife Francoise De Souza Oliveira has reportedly told Rio cops that she was cheating on the ambassador but she had nothing to do with the murder.
“It’s not my fault if I couldn’t stop it,” she said, O Globo, a Rio daily, reported.
Her lover — military police officer Sergio Gomes Moreira Filho, 29 — told Rio cops that he’d rushed to Oliveira’s home last Monday night after another of the couple’s epic fights.
He and the diplomat argued, and he killed the ambassador in self-defense, and then he got his cousin to help him dispose of the body, he reportedly claimed.
But the cop’s cousin, Eduardo Tedeschi, 24, told police that it was a hit planned a day beforehand by all three of them, including Oliveira.
He said his cousin promised him the equivalent of $24,000 for his troubles, reports said.
Cops believe Oliveira ordered her lover to do the killing; she’d waited until Wednesday, two days after his “disappearance,” to go to the police station and file a report.
Her lover and her lawyer with her.
Oliveira, Filho and Tedeschi remain in custody.
